HAGIOGRAPHIES. 2008-2013.

This videoinstallation talks about a new Cuban society in which, from the starts of the “Special Peacetime Era”, faith in the great (epic) national story began to wane and a concern with a more intimate narrative began to be the order of the day. In other words, a gradual process of social change began, in which the law of survival became paramount; and this became publicly overt to such an extent that the symbolical representation of "new type" of hero became acceptable, and even celebrate –not officially, but certainly by general public: the racketeer, the drug dealer, the pimp, the prostitute, the madman, and the betrayed politician among others. They are all survivors in an improvised and temporary moment in time for which none of them has been prepared.

Environment: 13 short documentaries (Digital Video), 13 red stands of 140 cm height, 13 monitors and 12 headphones.
